Kurzbeschreibung: The annual meeting 2005 of the German Genetics Society (GfG) will be held at the GBF in Braunschweig from September 21st - 24th. The conference will focus on the latest developments in the area of infection genetics.

The field of infection and immunity is rapidly expanding. Conserved mechanisms are discovered in the immune response of plants, animals and man. Genetics is a driving force in the functional analysis of virulence factors, host-pathogen interactions or the molecular basis of host susceptibility to infectious diseases.

This includes the use of new animal models or chemical approaches in order to identify and characterize genetic factors contributing to the complexity of immunity. Computational biology and network analysis provides new tools to analyze and model pathogen adhesion, invasion or the development of escape mechanisms to a mounting immune response.
