Kurzbeschreibung: The theme of the annual meeting is “Suffering and Justice” and will
feature sessions on deadly medicine, social determinants of health, and a
variety of topics examining the relationship between suffering and justice.

Pre-conference Sessions include:

* The Future and the Past: Celebrating the Contributions of the Nursing Profession in Bioethics

* Clinical Ethics Consultation

* Preventive Ethics

* Designing a Course on Ethics and Public Health in an Age of Terrorism

* Creative and Reflective Writing in Medical Training

* Talking the Talk: A Workshop in How to Give Speeches Both Rigorous and True

Featured Plenary Session Topics include:

* A panel discussion on Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo: Medical Professionalism, Dual Loyalty, and Human Rights

* Jews and Alcohol (Again): Race and Medicine (Again), presented by Dr. Sander Gilman

* Ethics, Quality, and Health Policy, presented by Dr. Carolyn Clancy.
