The Forum first met in Bethesda in 1999. The second Forum was held in Bangkok in 2000, the third in Cape Town in February 2002, the fourth in Brasilia in October 2002, the fifth in Paris in April 2004, and the sixth in Blantyre, Malawi in March 2005.
The seventh Global Forum for Bioethics in Research (GFBR7) will be held at Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan from 17-19 February, 2006. AKU was founded in 1983 as Pakistan's first private university. Twenty years on, AKU has made significant contributions, both nationally and internationally, on a range of development challenges and now has ten teaching sites in three continents around the world. AKU continues, through research, to make important contributions to the global store of knowledge on the health sciences and educational development, particularly in the context of developing countries.
