Kurzbeschreibung: The ESF/EMBO Symposium “Stem Cells in Tissue Engineering: Isolation, Culture, Characterisation and Applications” will provide updated tools and innovative knowledge to highly educated “hybrid” researchers, enabling and complementing competitiveness to play a leading role in the European research within the Stem Cells, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine research fields.

It is an objective conviction of the organisation to instruct participants through a tutorial and highly challenging scientific programme, addressing the latest scientific research and developments of Stem Cells application on tissue engineering and regeneration. The conference aims to bring together scientists with diverse backgrounds to foster cross-fertilisation and the generation of new ideas.

Topics will include:

· Stem cells sources and embryonic stem cells

· Embryonic and umbilical cord stem cells

· Adult stem cells

· Mesenchymal stem cells: clinical applications

· Mesenchymal stem cells: gene therapy

· Growth factors & tissue engineering

· Ethical aspects & brain cells

· Microenvironments & dynamic culturing

· Vascularisation in tissue engineering

· Stem cells in tissue engineering
