Kurzbeschreibung: The Board of the European Society of Gene Therapy is pleased to invite you to participate in the forthcoming 14th ESGT Annual Congress to be held in Athens on 9-12 November 2006.

Greece enjoys a particularly advantageous geographical and historical position, by being both the birthplace of legendary figures such as Hippocrates, the father of Medicine, as well as a major international cultural and tourist destination. Its capital Athens, that has recently hosted the 2004 Olympic Games, is the ideal setting for such an important scientific event.

The scientific programme of the 14th ESGT Congress will start with educational Sessions, which will offer comprehensive background for the scientific sessions to follow. The plenary and simultaneous symposia will cover all aspects of gene therapy, focus on cancer, stem cells, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, skeleto-muscular systems, respiratory issues, promoter targeting and genome edition, siRNA, miRNA, zinc fingers and recent advances in viral and non-viral vector development.

The diverse offerings of the Congress’ social programme, meanwhile, range from expertly guided tours of Greece’s enchanting archaeological sites and its rich museums, to evenings at traditional taverns and fine restaurants, featuring both popular and classical Greek music. The 14th Annual Congress of ESGT will be an ideal venue to exchange ideas with your colleagues, to make new acquaintances and to familiarize your self with the most recent science and technology, in the flourishing field of gene therapy.
