DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL ETHICS AND HISTORY OF MEDICINE (GOETTINGEN)
OFFERS TRAVEL GRANTS FOR ETHICSWEB GOOD PRACTICE OF DOCUMENTATION
WORKSHOP

Dear colleagues,

within the framework of the EC‐funded Project ETHICSWEB, the Department of Medical
Ethics and History of Medicine (University Medical Center Goettingen) offers travel grants
of max. 500,‐€ for attending the ETHICSWEB Workshop on Good Practice of
Documentation on April 12th 2010 at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) in Rome.

ETHICSWEB is an Interconnected
European information and documentation system for
ethics and science (http://ethicsweb.org/). It will be a common, decentralized European
access point for information that is made available in different European member states,
by various regional providers and centres as well as by international organizations.
Existing information and documentation systems will be connected to allow and ensure
an easy access to comprehensive information on science and ethics. At the same time
sophisticated tools, both technical and semantic, will be applied or – if necessary
developed – to make the huge amount of information available for all parties involved.

The aim of the workshop is to present the work of ETHICSWEB, to share expertise in
and discuss central standards of documentation in the field of ethics and science (e.g.
document types and relevance criteria, cataloguing rules, thesauri, selection of indexing
terms, setting up and maintaining a database), and to specify the benefits of and
requirements for participation in ETHICSWEB. Please also see the attached program.

Interested persons should submit their application (in a WORD document or a PDF‐file)
by March 10th 2010. The applications should contain their CV and a letter of interest
indicating their background in ethics documentation and their interest in attending the
workshop. Applicants will be informed by March 15th 2010.
