Kurzbeschreibung: Today, global biodiversity hotspots are critical components of a global conservation strategy - but where did this concept originate? Why has it persisted as part of the modern conservation effort? And what is its future in the long-term effort to protect global biodiversity? Professor Dr. Fred Van Dyke, conservation biologist and environmental ethicist, leads us in an examination of the concept and value of global hotspots and the biodiversity they are designed to protect.
The public lecture is part of the Interdisciplinary Study Days "Biodiversity. Concept and Value.", March 21-26, 2011.
