Kurzbeschreibung: This conference is part of the interdisciplinary research project “Being addressed as You. Conceptual and Empirical investigations of a Second-Person Approach to Social Cognition”, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation within their funding initiative “European Platform for Life Sciences, Mind Sciences, and the Humanities”.
The conference brings together experts from different fields to promote interdisciplinary investigations on the prospects of a second-person approach to social cognition. Central Questions are: How might social cognitive processes differ depending on whether one is actively engaged in social interaction or merely observing others interact? What are the psychological processes and neural mechanisms of social cognition in these situations? How do they relate to one another? Do engagement and interaction with the other modulate the processes underlying social understanding? What is the impact of these distinctions for research methodologies in social psychology and social neuroscience as well as for our understanding of conditions like autism?
