Kurzbeschreibung: Ethical principles and professional values are not abstract, insubstantial concepts. On the contrary, they are values refined out of the actual practice of life. Thus, it is the ethical duty of scientists or researchers to take up the theoretical issues with their practical responses in life and to solve the dilemmas consolidated with daily life practices in society, through professionalism.

On the other hand the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age, are the social determinants of health. These circumstances are shaped by the distribution of money, power and resources at global, national and local levels. The social determinants of health are mostly responsible for health inequities - the unfair and avoidable differences in health status seen within and between countries.
Generating from universal human rights philosophy and law, bioethics has a paramount goal to struggle with these disparities and inequalities to adopt improved governance for health and development, to promote participation in policy-making and implementation; to reorient the health sector towards promoting health and reducing health inequities, to strengthen global governance and collaboration and to monitor progress and increase accountability.

These will be the driving force of the debates of the 30th Conference of the European Society of Philosophy of Medicine and Healthcare to be held in Istanbul August 17-20, 2016.

It will be a pleasure and privilege to meet colleagues to discuss these themes in a world heritage metropolitan, Istanbul, with her friendly, hospitable residents in a memorable, vibrant atmosphere.
