Kurzbeschreibung: Environmental health encompasses the assessment and control of those environmental factors that can potentially affect human health, such as radiation, toxic chemicals and other hazardous agents. The ethical frameworks and underpinnings that drive underlying environmental health research and regulations are not always made explicit and in our view require greater attention. We are looking forward to the contributions of colleagues from the whole range of environmental health research and practice on the ethical implications of science and technology and on the application of research results in the regulatory and policy domains.

As did its predecessor, the 3rd Symposium on the Ethics of Environmental Health will take place in Budweis (České Budějovice), Czech Republic. It will begin with an introductory lecture on the evening of Sunday, 28 August 2016, and continue with plenary and possibly parallel sessions through Wednesday morning, 31 August 2016.

Selected contributions will be published in a collection, probably by EarthScan.

The symposium will be held in conjunction with a “Workshop on Ethics of Radiation Protection” sponsored by OPERRA (“Open Project for the European Radiation Research Area“). One or more session will be dedicated to discussing the European road-map of research on radiation ethics until 2020, which is one of the deliverables of the OPERRA project.
