Kurzbeschreibung: This conference may be an inspriation to other scientific and professional institutions to become concerned with this issue. It is also important that Poland participate in the global discussion on the question of professional ethics. Let us remember that a special Group on Ethics in Scientific Research and New Technologies has been i operation in the European Union for the past four years. That is why already now, before formally becoming an integral part of the family of European nations, we must assure that Polish research, especially clinical research, proceeds according to the norms already in force in the Union.

This year's April meeting of international authorities in this field will most certainly be a substantial step forward in the so difficult, but necessary, opposition to all unethical tendencies in the health service.
