Kurzbeschreibung: In the last two decades an increased interest in the contribution of empirical research in bioethics appeared. Instead of mere theoretical discussions of ethical concepts or analysis of individual cases, a new form of ethics emerged. This "empirical ethics" uses the methods of social scientists.

At this conference experts will discuss the purpose, method and limits of this "empirical turn" in bioethics. Central theme is the relation between social sciences and ethics.
