Titel: 3rd Research Forum of the European Association for Palliative Care: Methodology for Palliative Care Research

Termin: 4.6.2004 bis 6.6.2004

Veranstaltungsort:
Palazzo dei Congressi
Stresa, Lago Maggiore
ITALY

Kurzbeschreibung: Research in palliative care is a very complex
and controversial subject and is not easy to
realise.

In many European countries Palliative Care is not
yet officially implemented in the health care
system, nor is it recognised or taught as a
speciality in the different professions involved.

In modern medicine a new speciality such as
palliative “medicine” will develop only if it is
supported by scientific evidence to justify its
aims and means. Clinical trials enable us to
evaluate new treatment options.

We need also to enhance research in health care
policy and organisation, education, social
assistance, psychiatry, psychology, the
approach towards death, bereavement and grief.

There is still a lot to do, we would like to invite
all of you to contribute with the presentation
of the results of your research.
