This conference is designed to improve investigators, IRB members, and other institutional representatives understanding of the policies, regulations, and laws that are related to the management of financial conflicts of interest. Topics and discussion will be presented from a practical perspective in terms of how to manage financial conflicts of interest affecting clinical research. To preserve research integrity, the emphasis will be on prevention. Emphasis will be placed on how financial arrangements should be managed so as to avoid the implication of misconduct. In part this will be accomplished by examining cases involving past transgressions and how they can be avoided. The conference faculty includes well-known federal and institutional officials, academic authors in the field, as well as private attorneys with experience in the management of financial conflicts of interest.
